Carolina Premier Bank Names Two Executives
CHARLOTTE, N.C., April 27, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Carolina Premier Bank, a community bank based in south Charlotte with branches extending into northern South Carolina, has named two executives to its leadership team. Timothy C. Key was named Chief Lending Officer and Carrington S. "Cash" Canada was named Chief Credit Officer.
Key has 22 years of banking experience, most recently as a Charlotte-based Commercial Team Leader for a national bank. His team was responsible for developing, cultivating, and retaining high-value commercial banking relationships for companies with annual revenues of $1 million to $25 million. Key also held sales and sales management roles with regional and national banks. His role at Carolina Premier Bank will be to direct and lead the Commercial Banking team as they provide value-added, premier-level service for their clients.
David P. Barksdale, Chief Executive Officer, commented that "Tim brings sales discipline, a passion for client service, and market knowledge to this role. He will work closely with the Commercial Banking team and the other members of our leadership team to strategically serve the small and mid-size business segment in our markets. We look forward to Tim's leadership as we continue the pursuit of becoming a high-performing community bank."
Key serves as Board Chair of Business Expansion Funding Corporation (BEFCOR), volunteer and graduate of Leadership Charlotte, and advisory board member for the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce. He also served as a consultant to the finance committee of St. Nektarios Greek Orthodox Church. Key is a graduate of University of North Carolina at Wilmington.
Canada is a 21-year banking veteran and has worked for both national and community banks. Most recently, Canada was the Senior Credit Officer for a community bank based in Augusta, GA. Prior to this role, he was the Director of Credit Policy for Savannah River Banking Company which started as a De novo bank in Augusta, GA and was acquired by First Community Corporation (Lexington, SC). Canada also served as the Aiken Market President for a national bank.
Barksdale said of Canada, "We are excited that Cash will bring strong credit skills and a desire to serve our clients to his role as Chief Credit Officer. Working collaboratively with our sales team, Cash and his team will ensure that our clients' financing needs are met in a manner that best achieves their financial goals. He understands and appreciates the balance that we strive to achieve between quality and growth of our balance sheet."
Canada is a graduate of The Citadel in Charleston, SC and received his MBA from the University of South Carolina. He will relocate to Charlotte and begin his role in early May.
Key and Cash were both hired upon the retirement of Jim Mauney, who served as the bank's Chief Lending and Risk Officer for the past three years. Mauney will continue to periodically consult with the bank as the new team transitions into their roles.
With assets of approximately $250 million, Carolina Premier Bank is one of the few locally-based community banks remaining in Charlotte.
Founded in 2007, the bank has its home office in Ballantyne Corporate Place; a branch on Blakeney Park Drive in Charlotte; branches in Rock Hill, Blacksburg, and Six Mile, SC; and Washington, DC. It also owns Bank of the Urban League of the Central Carolinas in Charlotte. It is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Premara Financial, Inc., a bank holding company.
