Carolina Partners in Mental HealthCare, NC's Leading Private Outpatient Behavioral Health Provider, Rolls out Innovative "Virtual Waiting Room" to See Patients Same Day Via Telehealth
DURHAM, N.C., Feb. 25, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Carolina Partners in Mental HealthCare, PLLC ("CPMH") launched their newest innovation in telehealth: the Virtual Waiting Room. This is the online equivalent of a walk-in clinic, where a patient will be able to connect to a provider on the same day, no appointment needed. Carolina Partners is among the first behavioral health clinics in the nation to offer such a service to their patients.
In CPMH's traditional telehealth program, a patient goes to the corporate website, registers for a telehealth appointment and gets connected to a mental health provider within 48 hours. But now, that patient will also have the option of entering the Virtual Waiting Room for "on-demand appointments." Once they register, they will automatically enter a queue in the order in which they entered the room; all they have to do from there is keep their device close by and stay logged in, and they will be seen by the next available provider, usually within an hour of signing in.
"There's a huge need for a service like this," said Dr. Diego Garza, Carolina Partners' Director of Telemedicine Services "The innovation piece of this program is that mental health care patients just aren't getting seen fast enough under the old models of appointment-setting. This is going to allow them to be seen the same day. No other practice that I know of is offering something like this for mental health care."
Jeff Williams, Chief Executive Officer of Carolina Partners, added that "even though we added 30 new providers in Q4, the demand for outpatient mental health care services is so large that it can often be several weeks before a patient can be seen. That is just not good enough in our view. Situations arise where it is important to see the patient when they are in the midst of an episode or crisis. Now, we can provide unprecedented access when it's needed." He further added that "Carolina Partners, is committed to innovate in behavioral health care. A major part of that will be a continued investment in cutting-edge technologies such as telehealth and Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) for treatment-resistant depression."
This announcement comes on the heels of Carolina Partners' recent investment deal with River Cities Capital Funds ("RCCF") that closed in September, which saw CPMH gain the resources to aggressively grow its footprint across NC and further its bid to establish itself as a national leader in the behavioral healthcare industry.
