A resident of San Francisco, Benz joined the firm in 2001 and serves as Managing Principal with Kevin Dorwin. Benz also serves as the firm's Chief Operating Officer and is responsible for firm management, including finance and reporting, portfolio operations, human resources, compliance, technology, and strategic planning.
Prior to joining the firm, Benz worked for 10 years for Barclays Global Investors, currently known as Blackrock, where she managed account operations, domestic operations, international operations, and the data services group, and for three years with Ernst & Young as a Supervising Senior where she worked with insurance, technology, and manufacturing clients.
Benz is a Certified Public Accountant (inactive status) in the state of California. She is currently Vice Chair of the Stanford Alumni Association Board of Directors and holds positions as a member of the Stanford Cap & Gown Alumnae Board, a Director of the San Francisco Opera Guild, treasurer of the San Francisco Ballet Auxiliary, a committee member of the C.A. Buck Educational Foundation, and a sustaining member of the Junior League of San Francisco. Previously, Benz served as a member of the Schwab Advisor Services Advisory Board, president and treasurer of the San Francisco Ballet's ENCORE!, as treasurer of the San Francisco Opera Guild, as a member of the board of the Merola Opera Program, and as Dinner Chair of the San Francisco Ballet's 2010 opening night gala. Benz earned her BA degree in economics from Stanford University.
