BALTIMORE, May 11, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Carl Edwards and the No.19 STANLEY race team will spend the day visiting children at Johns Hopkins Children's Center in Baltimore, MD tomorrow (May 12). The team will then head into Dover International Speedway this Sunday (May 15) with a million reasons to win, because STANLEY will donate $1 Million if Edwards wins to Children's Miracle Network Hospitals through the Ace Hardware Foundation.
As part of the 10th Annual "Racing for a Miracle" program, Edwards and the No. 19 STANLEY team will play games, give pit stop demonstrations and share smiles with the children of Johns Hopkins Children's Center.
Edwards says he admires the strength and courage of the children treated at Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. "These activities with the kids at Johns Hopkins Children's Center serve as another reminder that we should never stop helping children's hospitals, which rely on donations to care for kids," Edwards said. Johns Hopkins Children's Center, Maryland's largest children's hospital, offers recognized centers of excellence in dozens of pediatric subspecialties, including allergy, cardiology, cystic fibrosis, gastroenterology, nephrology, neurology, neurosurgery, oncology, pulmonary and transplant.
On Friday, Edwards, along with representatives from STANLEY & Ace Foundation will present the $100,000 donation to the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. At the check presentation, Edwards will unveil the paint scheme that will run this weekend on the No. 19 STANLEY car. The new scheme includes four very special children who will also serve as "Honorary Crew Members" of the No. 19 team throughout the weekend.
"Tomorrow will hopefully be the start of a great weekend for STANLEY, the Ace Foundation and Children's Miracle Network Hospitals," commented Tony Merritt, Director of Motorsports for Stanley Black and Decker. "It's amazing to see the immeasurable strength these children face on a daily basis. Tomorrow we'll do our best to bring a little more joy into their lives."
