Caribbean Talent To Take Center Stage At 'Old Time Grand Market' Christmas Celebration On December 10
NEW YORK, Dec. 5, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- A talented array of Caribbean Cultural acts will take center stage when Braata Productions presents its fifth annual Old Time Grand Market Celebration at the Holy Family Church Auditorium in Canarsie, Brooklyn this Sunday December 10 starting from 5pm.
Doors open from 4pm.
Old Time Grand Market is a one day Caribbean Christmas festival featuring music, food and craft vendors and numerous activities for the entire family.
The centerpiece of the festival is the Grand Market Concert, which this year features performances by Caribbean cultural stars including vocalists Rory Frankson and Andrew Clarke , folklorist Coleen Shand, The Braata Folk Singers, the Quake USA cultural group of Grenada, The True Tribute Organisation and the Impressions Dance Theater representing Guyana.
Making his Grand Market debut, classically trained Jamaican singer Rory Frankson is a uniquely versatile artist whose repertoire includes everything from Puccini to Gershwin and from Pavarotti to Sinatra. He was featured in Ebony Magazine in 2015 as one of three 'Black Men Storming The Gates of Classical Opera.'
Andrew Clarke recently earned excellent reviews for his leading role in the world premiere musical Welcome to America and will shortly be seen in a guest starring role in the Investigation Discovery series "Disappeared."
The award winning Braata Folk Singers have earned numerous accolades, including several medals from the World Choir Games- the most prestigious choral competition in the world- while the Quake USA Folk Group of Grenada are one of the most versatile performing arts troupes in the diaspora.
Also making their Grand Market debut will be the youthful Impressions Dance Theatre- under the Direction of Guyanese American Verna Walcott White- and whose repertoire includes Afro Caribbean, African and Hip Hop dance forms.
A highlight of this year's concert will once again be the inclusion of Christmas traditions from the islands represented by the various concert artists. Accordingly, Quick USA will be performing a suite of Grenadian Christmas folk songs while Impressions Dance Theatre will enact a Guyanese Masquerade presentation.
The Holy Family Church Auditorium is located at 9719 Flatlands Avenue, at the corner of East 98th Street and Conklin Avenue.
Tickets are available on the Braata Productions website and at select Caribbean outlets in the boroughs.
