"We wanted to give the consumer the chance to buy a premium, current pair of jeans, which have the most up to date washes and fits, but designed with respect for the Carhartt brand's heritage at a truly affordable price," said Anne Rourke, Designer III for Carhartt.
Staying true to the Carhartt heritage, all garments will be constructed with triple-stitched inseams and belt loops positioned on the side seams for added durability and strength.
"What's unique about the three new fits in the Series 1889 collection is that they are all different in design, wash treatments, colors and fit – but they all have incorporated traditional characteristics of the Carhartt brand in their construction," said Rourke.
"Some of the newer features will include the fit name screen printed onto the inside waistband of each jean, heritage railroad striped pocket lining, exaggerated bar tacks on the rear pockets, and the revival of the traditional Carhartt railroad car buttons – giving our new denim line a current and stylish look, but reviving our company's past by adding design cues that are personal to our brand," Rourke further adds.
The Carhartt Series 1889 Slim-Fit Jean – Straight-Leg (B307) is the slimmest silhouette in the collection and offers a lower rise. This 13.5-ounce jean is constructed from 100 percent ring-spun cotton denim and is available in the Dark Stain wash. The wash of this jean has been saturated with a dark tint and a resin finish. Features include: hand sanding, whiskering, and crinkling. The B307 offers a straight-leg with 18-inch leg openings. The B307 styling features include the heritage Carhartt logo front button with an updated blackened finish, and two rear pockets offering an extra wide top hem with bar tacks – features that are traditional of classic work wear designs – but exaggerated to bring a fresh style element. The B307 retails for $55.
The Carhartt Series 1889 Relaxed-Fit Jean – Boot Cut (B310) has a relaxed fit through the hip and thigh with a lower rise that sits more at the hips. This 13.5-once jean is constructed from 100 percent ring-spun cotton denim and features extra wide pockets, 20-inch boot cut leg openings, a heavy-duty top hem stitch, and a small hidden coin pocket tucked inside the waistband made of a heritage railroad striped fabric. Finished in two washes – Dark Retro with tinting, hand sanding, and whiskering treatments and Light Retro (a washed-down gray cast color), with hand sanding and whiskering treatments. The B310 retails for $55.
The Carhartt Series 1889 Loose-Fit Jean – Straight Leg (B311) offers an easy fit through the seat and thigh and features Carhartt's traditional Lazy Duck back pocket design. This 11-3/4-ounce jean is constructed from 100 percent ring-spun cotton denim and sits below the natural waist. The B311 offers the heritage Carhartt logo front button, 20-in leg openings and is finished in the Medium Worn wash with crinkling, heavy hand sanding, and whiskering treatments for a classic vintage look. The B311 retails for $55.
