Cargill Contributes Innovative Nutritional Software to Iowa State University's Department of Animal Science
MINNEAPOLIS, May 24, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Cargill today announced it is making a significant in-kind software contribution to Iowa State University (ISU) to aid in its efforts to improve swine nutrition and pork production.
Cargill's Animal Nutrition unit is licensing its Pork MAX® patented nutritional software to ISU's Department of Animal Science. This innovative software will be used in ISU's applied swine nutrition program, which includes research, teaching and extension services. Cargill's Pork MAX® software will allow students to accurately model and project swine nutritional needs to improve research outcomes and aid in pork business decision making.
"I am excited by the prospect of using the growth modeling capabilities of the Pork MAX® software to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of our research and extension activities," said Dr. John Patience of ISU's Department of Animal Science. "Being able to model various experiment options before even conducting the actual experiment will help us to use limited research dollars wisely and the most effectively."
"We always are looking to help our customers be the most competitive producers of protein in the global marketplace, and we are pleased that Iowa State will be working with us toward that goal and benefit from our technology," said Mark Hulsebus, general manager of Cargill Animal Nutrition's Pork Enterprise. "At the same time, we are happy to provide the future leaders of our industry exposure to our innovations so they can learn by using the latest in nutritional software."
