DAYTON, Ohio, Nov. 1, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- CareSource, a nonprofit health plan, will again offer Marketplace Health Insurance coverage in four states for the 2018 benefit year. This Open Enrollment period, Nov. 1 – Dec. 15, 2017, is significantly shorter than previous years. Accordingly, CareSource urges consumers to act quickly to understand their coverage options and enroll in the health plan that meets their needs.
While uncertainty and confusion has surrounded the future of the Marketplace, CareSource continues its commitment to offering consumers access to quality, affordable health care coverage. The company has received approval to offer coverage in specified counties in Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana and West Virginia.
During last year's open enrollment cycle, CareSource enrolled nearly 160,000 people in four states. For 2018, the company is projecting a robust enrollment period as a result of its plan benefits, quality networks and competitive pricing.
Consumers shopping the Marketplace should know the following:
- If your insurer has exited the Marketplace, take note of information you will receive in the mail about being alternately enrolled. Remember that you have the option to change to the plan of your choice.
- Do your research. This is a consumer-based Marketplace, so shopping and comparing plans is important to finding the best value.
- Assess your coverage needs based on your life circumstances – this will help to determine the right coverage at the right premium.
- Shop early – the Marketplace has a shorter enrollment period, Nov.1 – Dec. 15.
"At CareSource, our mission is to serve uninsured populations and provide them access to affordable quality coverage," said Robert Brett, CareSource Marketplace Vice President. "We understand how important health care is to individuals and their families, and we've seen the impact health and well-being has on governmental dependency and economic stability. We remain committed to the Marketplace and those who have trusted us to provide them with health care coverage."
