CarePoint Health Offers Additional Healthcare Options to Veterans, Active Duty Service Members and their Families in Hudson and Passaic Counties
CarePoint Health is the first authorized provider of Patient- Centered Community in Hudson County, making accessing healthcare easier and more convenient for veterans and TRICARE beneficiaries
JERSEY CITY, N.J., Feb. 20, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Today, Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop and CarePoint Health CEO, Dennis Kelly announced that CarePoint Health is now able to offer care to local area veterans, uniformed service members and their families through an innovative program that allows private sector providers to supplement traditional veterans and military benefits.
"Providing access to quality healthcare in the communities where they live is a step in the right direction towards improving services for veterans, current members of the armed forces and their families," said Mayor Fulop, an Iraq war veteran whose administration made ending veteran homelessness in Jersey City a priority. "With this program, CarePoint will be making a huge impact in the lives of thousands of veterans and military families who have selflessly put our nation ahead of their own lives and well-being. I am honored to join CarePoint in launching this program here in Hudson County."
"We are honored to be an additional source of quality medical care for veterans and TRICARE beneficiaries, and are proud to be the first authorized medical system for the Patient-Centered Community Care in Hudson County," said Dennis Kelly, Chief Executive Officer of CarePoint Health. "These men and woman, along with their families, have and continue to, sacrifice so much for this country, and what better way to repay their service than to ensure that they receive the best care where and when they need it most."
"As a veteran of the war in Afghanistan, I know firsthand how important it is to receive the right healthcare when you need it," said Jeffrey Conord, Business Development Manager at CarePoint Health. "Having Patient Center Community Care as an additional resource makes the process of finding and receiving quality healthcare so much easier. CarePoint Health's participation brings this invaluable resource close to home for me and other veterans in Northeastern New Jersey."
CarePoint Health recently became Hudson County's first authorized healthcare system for Patient-Centered Community Care (PCCC), a U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) program that provides eligible veterans and TRICARE beneficiaries (retired and active duty service members and their families) access to specialty care through a comprehensive network of community-based, non-VA medical professionals when the VA cannot provide adequate care and must supplement care outside of its own facilities. This freedom of choice allows participants to explore "out of network" options and engage in medical care that is timely, convenient and close to home. Participants who are currently enrolled in the VA healthcare system are eligible.
With CarePoint Health's participation in this program, Hudson County veterans and TRICARE beneficiaries living in the area now have access to specialty care at all three of its award-winning hospitals – Bayonne Medical Center, Christ Hospital in Jersey City and Hoboken University Medical – and its network of nationally-recognized doctors and medical professionals. In addition, CarePoint Health has partnered with doctors in Passaic County to expand the program's reach and serve more of Northeastern New Jersey veteran population.
Veterans interested in choosing CarePoint Health as their PCCC provider should contact their nearest VA office or http://www.va.gov/PURCHASEDCARE/programs/veterans/nonvacare/index.asp.TRICARE beneficiaries should contact their Primary Care physicians to discuss utilizing CarePoint Health for specialty care appointments.
