SAN DIEGO, March 7, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- CareFusion Corporation (NYSE: CFN), a global, medical technology company, announced today the appointment of Carlos M. Nunez, M.D. as its chief medical officer (CMO).
Dr. Nunez, 45, is an anesthesiologist, intensivist and hospitalist as well as an experienced health care technology leader. He has devoted much of his business career in the areas of clinical effectiveness, information technology, public policy and international markets.
Most recently, Dr. Nunez was chief physician executive at Picis since 2000. Prior to that role, he was a practicing clinician and director of Education and Research for the Division of Critical Care Medicine at Carolinas Medical Center Northeast in North Carolina.

Dr. Nunez received his medical degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine, where he also completed his post-graduate training in anesthesiology and critical care medicine. He has published and presented extensively on the topics of healthcare informatics, clinical data analysis, medical technology, cerebral blood flow auto-regulation and medical history.
