Care.com, USAA Join Forces to Help Military Families Manage Unique Care Needs
Relationship Includes Help Finding Caregivers and Caregiving Jobs for Military Families
WALTHAM, Mass., June 14, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- To serve the growing needs of military families across the United States, Care.com (http://www.care.com), the premier source of trustworthy family care options, today announced a new relationship with USAA, a leading insurance and financial services provider for the military, to help military families manage their family care needs and find caregiving job opportunities, from childcare to senior care.
Through the relationship, Care.com and USAA are jointly developing integrated online solutions for managing the unique military lifestyle changes, such as a deployment or a military move, with a focus on facilitating the management of care-related issues. The new solutions will enable a more seamless way for individuals and their families to deal with the physical, logistical, and financial impacts of everyday and emergency care needs.
USAA and Care.com will also encourage community engagement among military spouses online so their stories can be shared more broadly.
"Care.com knows that one of the biggest sources of stress for any family is finding trusted care for a loved one. For military families who may have one parent deployed or have recently moved to a new installation, finding care presents unique challenges," said Sheila Marcelo, Founder and CEO of Care.com. "We are delighted to create this alliance with USAA to provide a resource where military families can manage their care needs, whether it be finding a new babysitter, learning about childcare costs, or simply connecting with other local families. Additionally, interested military spouses will be able to find job opportunities as care providers."
"Our military family members have a unique set of family care needs. We are very excited to work with Care.com to develop and deliver practical solutions that serve those needs and help promote family readiness, security and peace of mind," said Augie Ray, Executive Director of USAA Communities and Collaboration. "USAA and Care.com are committed to helping military families be better prepared to handle the challenges related to deployment or military moves."
Through Care.com, families can connect with local babysitters, nannies, special needs care, senior home care, pet sitters, tutors, and housekeepers through a national network of trusted caregivers. Families in need of caregivers can search by ZIP code, service and pay rate. Care.com gives families access to detailed background check reports and recorded reference interviews, adding a layer of confidence and security when making important decisions regarding personal family care needs.
"The military community is very self-reliant," Ray said. "We built a military spouse community on USAA.com to give military families a place to discuss and provide tips on dealing with deployment, transitioning from the military, moving and money."
USAA and Care.com will continue to work together to ease military members through each of these phases.
