Employees directly contributed $1.5 million to non-profit organizations of their choosing during the company's annual giving campaign, and nearly $800,000 was contributed by Cardinal Health, which matched employee donations to health care-causes at 100 percent and to all other 501(c)3 organizations at 50 percent. The company applies this same match to all employee donations made to non-profit organizations throughout the year.
"We're proud of the innovative ways our employees share their time and talents with non-profit organizations, and we're inspired by the meaningful impact their service projects are having on their local communities," said Lisa Ashby, president of category management for Cardinal Health's Medical segment, who served as executive sponsor of Cardinal Health's 2010 Annual Giving Campaign. "We're also grateful to our employees for the generous financial support they offer to non-profit organizations throughout the year, especially during our Annual Giving Campaign."
Ashby said the Cardinal Health Foundation also supports employee volunteer efforts all year long, by offering fundraising and volunteer grants to non-profit organizations in honor of employees' community service, leadership and volunteerism.
The Cardinal Health Foundation also recently awarded more than $1.2 million in grant funding to support community programs that improve health and wellness in five communities where its employees live and work. Grants ranging from $5,000 to $50,000 were awarded to nearly 50 non-profit organizations in Albuquerque, N.M., central Ohio; Little Rock, Ark.; Northern Chicago; and Radcliff, Ky.
