"It is an honor to be recognized among such a diverse and accomplished group of innovative technology leaders," said Gray. "I'm proud to share this acknowledgement with my team who works diligently to keep Carbonite on the cutting edge of cloud backup and superior customer service every day."
"This year's CIO honorees exemplify how innovation in the use of information technology and in IT strategy can bring success, whether in driving profits or providing improved service to customers, end users or the public," said Chris McIntosh of the Boston Business Journal and Mass High Tech.
With an M.S. in Engineering Management from Tufts University and more than 15 years of technology experience, Gray leads a team committed to maintaining Carbonite's position as an innovative industry leader. Gray joined Carbonite in 2009 and oversees the production infrastructure that enables Carbonite to back up more than 300 million files each day. During his tenure, Gray's team has dramatically increased operational efficiency and reduced datacenter power infrastructure costs. Additionally, Gray's team oversees Carbonite's IT infrastructure to support the company's customer support center in Lewiston, Maine, a small development office in Princeton, New Jersey, and the company's Boston headquarters.
Gray is also very committed to the area's high-tech entrepreneurial community, working to help cultivate the local start-up ecosystem through group outings and event sponsorship, advising start-ups, and providing mentorship to individuals entering the industry.
The Top CIOs List recognizes 12 outstanding individuals in four categories —corporate, emerging, enterprise, and non-profit — at a breakfast event on June 12th at the Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel. Gray is one of three winners recognized in the emerging companies category. For more event details, please visit http://www.bizjournals.com/boston/event/63491.
