Caraustar Announces Continued Implementation of Price Increases on All Uncoated and Coated Recycled Paperboard Grades
ATLANTA, June 16, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Caraustar Industries, Inc. today announced the continuation of the previously announced price increases on all uncoated recycled paperboard (URB) and coated recycled paperboard (CRB) grades.
"The announced price increases of our URB and CRB grades in March were in response to the increases in fiber costs that Caraustar had been absorbing," stated Mark Butryn, Vice President of Sales for the Caraustar Mill Group.
Implementation resulted in low realization due to a temporary drop in recycled fiber costs. However, after a brief decline, the costs of recycled fiber rebounded and are forecasted to continue to increase in the upcoming months. Butryn reiterated, "Caraustar cannot continue to absorb the increases in recycled fiber and other raw materials costs. We must complete implementation of the previously announced price increases on our URB and CRB grades to recover those costs."
