CAQH Selects Passport To Develop National COB Registry
Groundbreaking Initiative Will Streamline Coordination of Benefits Process, Make Healthcare System More Efficient
FRANKLIN, Tenn., June 10, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Passport has been selected by CAQH to develop a national coordination of benefits (COB) solution that will improve the sharing of patient coverage data between healthcare providers and payers. Providers and participating payers will be able to access the CAQH COB information to identify primary and secondary insurance coverage and better coordinate patient benefits for episodes of care.
After an extensive review of potential partners and a rigorous RFP process CAQH selected Passport to build and operate the CAQH COB solution. The technology Passport is building for CAQH will simplify healthcare administration and reduce costs within the system for everyone's benefit – patients, providers and payers.
"CAQH selected Passport to be a partner in this effort because of its deep expertise, broad provider presence, strong technical ability and proven track record of delivering solutions that simplify healthcare administration," said Robin Thomashauer, Executive Director of CAQH. "This collaboration will address a problem that has vexed the industry for years. CAQH and its members are excited about this partnership with Passport and the benefits it will provide for the healthcare system."
Twelve major insurers – covering more than 165 million lives – are already working together in this industry collaboration and CAQH plans to expand participation in the coming months. The COB solution will enable providers to reduce paperwork, streamline claims processes, and increase payment accuracy.
"We applaud CAQH for its leadership and vision on this important initiative, and always welcome the challenge to collaborate and break new ground. We view it as an opportunity for us to make another meaningful contribution that will benefit our customers and improve the overall healthcare system," said Passport CEO Scott MacKenzie.
