Capitol Hill Block Party Releases 2019 Festival Lineup, Community Partners and Free Programming
Single-Day, Two-Day, Three-Day and VIP festival passes on sale Feb. 26 at 9 a.m. PT.
SEATTLE, Feb. 26, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Capitol Hill Block Party today announced the full lineup of performers for its 23rd annual music and arts festival, scheduled for July 19-21 in the heart of Capitol Hill in the Pike Pine corridor. Headliners include bass beacon RL Grime, electro-pop duo Phantogram, and singer-rapper-flautist Lizzo. Organizers also shared information about a number of community partnerships and free programming for the neighborhood.
"Every year we look for new ways to celebrate the diversity of Seattle's culture and add value to the many great local businesses in the neighborhood and city," said event Associate Producer, Kate Harris. "Providing a platform where local artists can continue to grow and organizations benefit from the additional exposure is an important way to unify the local community and preserve our fiercely independent and artistic nature," added event Co-Owner and Senior Producer, Jason Lajeunesse.
Single-day, two-day, three-day and VIP passes go on sale Tuesday, Feb. 26 at 9 a.m. PT. In conjunction with the event's ticket on sale, Capitol Hill Block Party is pledging to match donations to raise a total of $5,000 for four of the event's nonprofit partners: Jubilee Women's Center, which provides transitional housing for women in poverty; The Vera Project, a volunteer all-ages arts center; Artists for Progress, a collection of creative activists; and Lifelong, a community health organization.
"We are so thankful to Capitol Hill Block Party for raising money to benefit the amazing women we serve," said Executive Director of Jubilee Women's Center, Cheryl Senson. "With support from community partners like CHBP, women at Jubilee can heal from their trauma, regain their dignity, and create better futures."
To build upon the holistic cultural experience and energy of the festival, Capitol Hill Block Party will also host free community events and activities, including a CHBP artist panel with Q&A, courtyard DJs at Chophouse Row, poster and photo shows, and with plans to activate Cal Anderson park on both Saturday and Sunday for outdoor yoga, health and wellness activities, the return of 35th North's Battle on the Block Skate Competition, and a Bat N' Rouge fundraising softball game.
"With our three-day festival as the centerpiece, we've worked hard to develop additional free programming that benefits the residents of Capitol Hill, our fundraising partners and Seattle at large," said Harris. "The entire neighborhood will be alive with activity this summer during the best weekend of the year."
