Capitol Counsel Brings on Jennifer Bang as Principal
WASHINGTON, Dec. 7, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Capitol Counsel LLC is pleased to announce the addition of Jennifer (Debes) Bang to the firm. Bang will join the firm as Principal and be a key member of Capitol Counsel's financial services and telecommunications teams.
Bang brings nearly 10 years of House experience as an Associate Staff Member to the House Appropriations Committee and Deputy Chief of Staff to Congressman Ander Crenshaw, Chairman of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Financial Services and General Government (FSGG). In this role, Bang was instrumental in helping craft high level funding and policy decisions for the $20 billion annual FSGG bill, one of the 12 must-pass spending bills. Known as one of the most diverse subcommittees, FSGG has jurisdiction over Treasury and the IRS, SEC, FCC, CFPB, OMB, and the FTC among others. In addition, Bang was one of the lead staffers for over five years on the Achieving a Better Life Experience (ABLE) Act that was signed into law on December 19, 2014. The ABLE Act creates tax free savings accounts for people with disabilities and is known as one of the first major disability reforms since The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.
"Jennifer has fought tirelessly to ensure that people with Down syndrome have the same rights and freedoms that those without disabilities enjoy," said NDSS President, Sara Hart Weir. "She led the landmark ABLE Act to passage, still known as one of the most successful bipartisan, bicameral advocacy campaigns to date. We are grateful for her leadership and dedication to the Down syndrome community."
"We are excited to add Jennifer to our financial services team of power players," said Capitol Counsel Partner, Jeff Walter. "Her deep and unique understanding of the Appropriations process specifically as it relates to financial services and telecommunications makes her one of the most highly sought after Hill aides."
"Jennifer's unique skills, coupled with her proven expertise on legislative issues, make her a tremendous asset to our firm and our clients and we look forward to adding her to the team," said Capitol Counsel Partner, Warren Tryon.
"I am thrilled to be joining a firm with so many of Washington's most well respected leaders in government affairs. Capitol Counsel has a reputation around town as a premier, heavy hitting, government relations firm and I look forward to bringing a new skill set to the team," said Bang. "Capitol Counsel is the place to be, and I am eager to begin this next chapter."
Bang is a graduate of Colorado State University. Bang will officially begin her role with Capitol Counsel in January 2017.
