True Equity Exposure is a new feature that analyzes an investor's asset allocations across all individual securities, exchange-traded funds ("ETFs") and mutual funds held in an account, delivering a more accurate view of the account's holdings—and a better understanding of how diversified a portfolio really is.
"Many investors don't realize the mutual funds and ETFs they are invested in carry some of the same individual securities they already hold," said Dan Greenshields, President of Capital One ShareBuilder. "True Equity Exposure helps our customers determine if they're weighted too heavily in a particular security or sector, so they can rebalance accordingly and ensure they are adequately diversified for the long term."
Available in ShareBuilder's recently upgraded Research Center, new customizable Heat Maps enable investors to quickly and easily view the biggest movers across indexes, stocks and funds—and see how their portfolios and watch lists are performing. The Heat Maps are versatile, providing a visual breakdown of performance by index, sector and more, and enabling users to view quotes and compare securities.
"Today's investors are looking for quick and easy tools to help them assess their portfolios and the markets, and make smart investing choices," Greenshields said. "These new tools are aimed at making our customers' accounts and the markets more accessible and transparent, and delivering actionable investing ideas. We will continue investing in our web-based and mobile platforms to deliver simple, innovative, low-cost investing for everyone."
In addition to the new tools, Capital One ShareBuilder recently introduced a flat base commission structure1 for real-time trades, available to all investors regardless of account size and trading activity level. Customers now pay $6.951 in base commission for real-time stock and ETF trades, and $6.95 plus $0.751 per contract for options trades.
