Capital Forensics Inc. Adds Compliance and Regulatory Managing Director, Stephen C. Strombelline
Former Senior Corporate Compliance Officer at Charles Schwab, BNP Paribas and Barclays Capital Brings More Than 35 Years of Regulatory Affairs, Ethics and Enterprise Risk Management Expertise Within the Securities and Banking Industries.
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill., June 19, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Capital Forensics, Inc. (CFI) announced today that Stephen C. Strombelline has joined the firm as a Managing Director, further strengthening CFI's compliance, regulatory and risk management capabilities for financial services firms, FORTUNE 500 companies, and their outside advisors.
Mr. Strombelline brings to CFI more than three decades of compliance and regulatory experience; most recently having served as a Senior Vice President and Head of Corporate Compliance for the Charles Schwab Corporation. In that role, he was responsible for establishing a framework for identifying, assessing, controlling, measuring, monitoring and reporting compliance risks across the corporation, and for providing appropriate compliance training throughout that firm. He also had frequent interaction with key regulators.
Previously, he had served as Chief Compliance Officer in the United States for two major European banks – BNP Paribas and Barclays Capital – where his responsibilities included development and operation of comprehensive compliance programs for all bank and broker-dealer businesses within the corporate investment bank and wealth management divisions. At those firms, he oversaw efforts to comply with relevant securities and banking regulations.
Capital Forensics' Chairman and CEO, Vadim Khavinson, said, "There are very few individuals in the financial services industry with Stephen's depth of knowledge in compliance and regulatory affairs. His decades of experience, working for some of the largest and most complex organizations, as well as the professional respect he has earned over the course of his career, will serve as invaluable assets to our clients. We are extremely proud to have a professional of his caliber join the CFI team."
He began his career with the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD), the self-regulatory organization that preceded the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), where he spent most of his time as the Associate Director of the NY District office. During his tenure at NASD, he was responsible for managing a regulatory program encompassing more than 300 annual compliance examinations and special investigations, and coordinating with multiple law enforcement agencies.
Mr. Strombelline holds an undergraduate degree from Hofstra University and an MBA degree in Finance from Adelphi University, and attained the rank of Eagle Scout as a youth. He has served as a Vice President for the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA) Compliance & Legal Society; as Chairman of the National Society of Compliance Professionals (NSCP); as Chairman of the Institute of International Bankers Compliance Committee; and was a member of the NASD District Business Committee.
