Capital BlueCross small group employers can keep their current coverage
The company has been receiving positive feedback while notifying customers with June renewals
HARRISBURG, Pa., April 28, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Capital BlueCross has been offering small employer group customers with a renewal date of June 1 through Dec. 31, 2014 the option of retaining their current health insurance plan for one more year.
"Small businesses are critical to the economic stability and growth of our communities," said Tracy Onorofsky, Capital BlueCross senior vice president of Commercial Group Sales. "We are pleased to provide our small group customers with the flexibility to choose the health insurance option that best meets their needs and budget, whether that is retaining their current Capital BlueCross plan or selecting a new Capital BlueCross plan that complies with the Affordable Care Act. As we have been notifying small groups with June renewals, along with other eligible customers, the option of keeping their current plan is proving to be welcome news."
The federal government recently announced that customers with health insurance plans that were offered prior to the implementation of the Accountable Care Act could keep their plan, contingent on approval from each individual state. Following that announcement, the Pennsylvania Insurance Department then empowered individual health insurers to make the decision on how they want to handle this change to the law.
More than 5,000 companies are eligible for this option, some of which have been Capital BlueCross customers for as long as they have been in business. "We take pride in serving all segments of our market from small group to major national accounts," said Onorofsky. "Capital BlueCross remains committed to meeting the needs of our groups and individual members."
