EMERYVILLE, Calif., Dec. 6, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Canopy Health and John Muir Health are announcing that Canopy Health, in association with UnitedHealthcare, is the new HMO insurance plan for John Muir Health's 10,000-plus employees and their dependents in Canopy Health's covered service area, effective January 1, 2019.
John Muir Health employees may now select UnitedHealthcare's SignatureValue Advantage in partnership with Canopy Health, which offers the same level of coverage as a traditional UnitedHealthcare HMO at a lower premium. After enrolling in the plan, members may then select a primary care physician from within Canopy Health's alliance and benefit from coordinated care and simplified referrals to any specialist within Canopy Health's robust Bay Area network.
"We are extremely excited about expanding the relationship between Canopy Health and John Muir Health. Together, we can offer our members affordable care across an extensive continuum of services," said Joel Criste, CEO of Canopy Health. "Serving John Muir Health employees and dependents allows us to provide more members with even greater access to some of the most respected medical groups, care centers, and hospitals in California."
In 2015, Canopy Health was launched as part of an affiliation between UCSF Health and John Muir Health, aiming to provide a high-quality continuum of care across the Bay Area through partnerships with primary care providers, medical groups, community hospitals, and top-tier academic medical facilities. Canopy Health's growing accountable care network provides members with access to nearly 5,000 doctors, 18 hospitals, and dozens of care centers.
"Canopy Health is growing quickly, and we are pleased to offer our employees and their family members access to high-quality care, convenient to where they work or live," said Michael Moody, Senior Vice President of Partnership Integration and Development at John Muir Health. "This includes uninterrupted access to John Muir Health-affiliated physicians and facilities that are part of the Canopy Health network."
