Canned Food Alliance Launches New Website: Mealtime.org
New design offers fresh look and user-friendly tools for health professionals and government audiences
PITTSBURGH, Sept. 4, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Canned Food Alliance (CFA) launched its newly redesigned website, www.mealtime.org, to better serve health and nutrition industry professionals and government, while also providing a path for consumers. The new website, designed by Response Labs LLC, is the result of a shift in marketing and communications strategies.
"Educating nutrition professionals and consumers about the many benefits of canned food has always been a top priority," said Rich Tavoletti, executive director for the CFA. "Mealtime.org is an online resource that concisely highlights helpful information including health and nutrition research, FAQ's dispelling myths about canned foods and recipes."
The new website provides a simple, user-friendly navigational path for professionals and policymakers separate from consumers. New sections for health professionals and policymakers include a delineated breakout of formal CFA policy statements, as well as CFA position statements on key issues. It also formalizes the breakout of nutrition research vs. behavioral research and categorizes fact sheets and infographics by subject matter, making them easier to find and understand what all of the CFA's resources are.
The website is also optimized for mobile devices and gives visitors a plethora of meal ideas and recipes that use canned foods – a need we've heard from both professionals and consumers in terms of providing resources for them and their clients. A recipe integration platform with www.foodily.com will allow all visitors to search the current CFA recipe database and have access to user-generated recipes that call for canned food ingredients.
"We're excited about the partnership with foodily.com. It allows us to continue to provide nutrition and health professionals and government agencies with applicable solutions to provide their clients; and offer consumers fresh ideas on how to incorporate canned foods into everyday meals," said Katie Calligaro, CFA communications manager. "After all, food isn't nutrition until it's consumed. We want to help bring the benefits of using canned foods to life, so that they make it onto people's plates during meal time."
Canned foods are an economic and convenient way to prepare nutritious foods year-round, whether they're used in schools or at home. Additionally, canned foods provide the important nutrients people need, often at a lower total cost-per-nutrient than fresh, frozen or dried forms1.
