DENVER, Dec. 12, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Vangst, the leading employment resource for the cannabis industry, today announced the official debut of Vangst GIGS, a new feature from the recruiting platform that allows candidates and employers full control over booking temporary jobs. Vangst GIGS will be the first and only fully compliant on-demand employment service in the cannabis space, connecting companies directly with licensed employees, or Vangsters, looking for temporary work opportunities.
As the cannabis industry continues to grow, many employers are faced with new on-demand hiring needs, which include finding qualified temporary workers. According to Vangst, nearly 35% of all cannabis jobs are part-time, resulting in costly job searching challenges for employers. Vangst GIGS will ultimately allow companies to hire faster, and for temporary workers to both control their own work schedules and receive compensation quickly.
"Catering to the gig economy is key for securing the next generation of qualified cannabis workers," said Karson Humiston, Founder and CEO of Vangst. "The introduction of Vangst GIGS makes on-demand employment seamless and efficient for cannabis companies and Vangsters alike. In a booming industry – which is projected to grow over 220% in 2019 – this will help make the process of employment simpler for all."
Vangst GIGS has two different portals – one for employers and another for employees, with access to gig listings and candidates, respectively. The employer portal requires clients to create a profile with Vangst, where their cannabis license will be verified before they can post gigs and accept qualified Vangsters for work. Once vetted and deemed qualified by Vangst through a series of processes, including reference and background checks, those looking to work in the cannabis space can easily create a profile, search, apply and accept temporary job openings. After the task is complete, payment is delivered through the platform weekly. Vangst GIGS has over 500 weekly jobs postings, with employers searching for budtending, gardening, trimming, and packaging workers.
The platform was initially launched in beta form last month in Colorado. Since then, over 10,000 temporary jobs have been booked at notable companies, including Mindful, Bonzi, NativeRoots, and Willies Reserve.
Available to current Vangsters and Vangst clients in Colorado, Vangst GIGS will now be available to those who qualify in Washington and California. The company plans to expand the platform to 10 additional states, and Canada, by the end of 2019.
