Cancer Treatment Centers of America at Midwestern Regional Medical Center and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois Announce In-Network Agreement
Blue Cross members battling cancer now have expanded access to CTCA
ZION, Ill., July 9, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois (BCBSIL) today announced an agreement that makes CTCA at Midwestern Regional Medical Center (Midwestern) an in-network provider of cancer care for its members. The new agreement provides in-network options for members seeking cancer treatment.
"For 77 years, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois has provided its members with the most expansive provider network available. This new agreement with CTCA furthers that commitment while keeping the cost of care in check and improving health outcomes," said Mike Deering, Director of Public Affairs at Blue Cross.
"Contracts with private payors are important for CTCA, but they're even more important for health plan members who are dealing with complex and advanced stage cancers," says Scott Jones, President and CEO of Cancer Treatment Centers of America at Midwestern Regional Medical Center. "Agreements, like the one established with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois make it easier for patients to get the care they need from a hospital focused exclusively on serving cancer patients with physicians they trust. This agreement aligns with our goal of creating partnerships that serve the needs of patients and includes aspects that hold our hospital accountable for performance in meeting those needs. There is incredible demand for our services and this agreement allows us to work with BCBSIL in a collaborative way to serve more of those patients who are seeking our care."
