"At CTCA, our patients are at the center of all we do," said John McNeil, President and CEO of CTCA at Eastern. "This is a wonderful tribute to our team members who are constantly working to deliver the most advanced treatment options for cancer, while establishing partnerships with our patients that enable us to better understand their specific needs and exceed all expectations for the quality of their care."
CTCA at Eastern reached the top echelon of performance within the Outstanding Patient Experience category. Hospitals from five separate categories are listed according to their overall patient experience score. The top 15% with the highest overall patient experience scores in their respective classification are eligible for the OPEA, and CTCA reached the top five percent of this distinguished group.
To be eligible for the Healthgrades 2013 Outstanding Patient Experience Award, hospitals had to meet clinical quality thresholds and have data for a minimum number of surveys from the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems, or HCAHPS—the first national, standardized, publicly reported survey of patients' perspectives of hospital care, administered by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
"As hospitals continue to struggle with the delivery of high-quality, safe care in the face of mounting financial and regulatory pressures, the hospitals who have achieved Healthgrades 2013 Outstanding Patient Experience Award stand above the rest in terms of providing the most positive experience for patients during their hospital stay," said Evan Marks, EVP Informatics and Strategy. "This exceptional performance reflects a commitment to superior quality of clinical care."
