Canary Islands Government Applies Bonita Open Solution for e-Government
PARIS, October 4, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- The Canary Islands Government continues to employ Open Source technology through Bonita Open Solution to provide citizens with quick access to online procedures in collaboration with Bull Spain and BonitaSoft.
The Directorate General of Telecommunications and New Technologies of the Canary Islands (Spain), Bull, and BonitaSoft have worked together to provide the Canary Islands e-government with business process automation capabilities (Business Process Management). This facilitates the development of applications for citizens, in order to modernize the processing of electronic records in all areas of public administration.
With the introduction of the 11/2007 Law on electronic access for citizens, government agencies have been facing significant challenges to modernize, optimize and streamline procedures to make e-government a reality.
Law 11/2007 and Royal Decree 1671/2009, 03/2010 and 04/2010 made it compulsory for government agencies to provide all citizens with the ability to perform administrative procedures through electronic means.
The solutions adopted by the government must ensure: - Information available to and communication with citizens - Interoperability with other agencies and governments - Verification and authenticity of citizenship - Administrative record documentation and filing - Single input of information for citizens
The Directorate General of Telecommunications and New Technologies of the Canary Islands Government has placed its trust in Bull and Bonita Open Solution to meet the needs of administrative management with citizens in this new legal environment.
BonitaSoft and Bull have developed a fully integrated solution architecture, which serves the needs of the various departments and subsidiaries of the Canary Islands. This solution is integrated with specific applications for each of them and manages all e-Government procedures of the Canary Islands rapidly, reliablly, scalably and optimally.
The Government of the Canary Islands, BonitaSoft and Bull have implemented a BPM architecture fully integrated with existing Information Systems. It is organized in a cluster of BPM nodes, ensuring high availability, scalability and performance for the deployed platform.
