Canadian Innovation Exchange (CIX) Selects Wajam to CIX Top 20
Wajam Recognized As One of Canada's Top Innovative Companies
MONTREAL, Nov. 7, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Wajam (www.wajam.com), a leader in social search technology, announced today its selection to the Canadian Innovation Exchange CIX Top 20, a unique program designed to showcase Canada's hottest innovative companies working in Digital Media and Information and Communication Technology. An expert panel of innovation leaders including investors and technology executives selected 20 technology companies from across Canada to be featured in a live showcase at CIX 2012, taking place November 27, 2012 at MaRS Discovery District in Toronto.
"We are honored to be associated with the Canadian Innovation Exchange and its elite list of top innovators," said Wajam CEO Martin-Luc Archambault. "CIX globally recognizes how Canada is a growing hotbed for entrepreneurs, investment and technology leadership. This is clearly sparking more entrepreneurs to start tech companies in Canada. The team at Wajam surely appreciates CIX's recognition for their innovative work. We are grateful for all of the awards we have received this year, which validate the need and relevance social search brings to internet navigation. Thanks Canadian Innovation Exchange!"
"The CIX Top 20 is an elite index of the most forward-looking companies in the Canadian innovation ecosystem, and connects the key players driving technology-based business both in Canada and beyond," said CIX Co-Chair Emma Norton. "Hundreds of applications were received from across the country, and were judged on a number of key factors, including the product or service offering, the depth of management, market opportunity and business model."
The November 27th event gives each business the opportunity to showcase their innovative concepts to a CIX audience of Canadian and international venture capital firms and corporate investors. A winner from each of the two categories will be chosen through a "virtual stock exchange," where event attendees buy, sell and trade virtual shares.
Last week, CEO Martin-Luc Archambault was named Emerging Entrepreneur award at the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2012 in Quebec. Wajam was also selected as a Red Herring Americas Top 100 Winner and recipient of the C2MTL Emerging Entrepreneurs Award this year.
