Statement by David Turnbull, President & CEO, Canadian Courier & Logistics Association (CCLA) on the Agreement in Principal Reached Between Canada and the EU on the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA)
TORONTO, Nov. 18, 2013 /CNW/ - The Canadian Courier & Logistics Association applauds the Canada - European Union agreement in principal on the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA).
We believe it will result in significantly strengthening Canada's economic growth opportunities. When ratified, the agreement will give Canadian companies preferential access to the EUs 28 states and a market of more than 500 million consumers and to its annual $17 trillion in economic activity.
CCLA congratulates the Canadian government on this historic agreement. It will diversify our markets for Canadian goods and expanded employment opportunities for thousands of Canadians. Elimination of tariffs and reducing red tape with the world's largest single market will create favorable business conditions. It should also result in greater choices for consumers.
CETA will be Europe's first comprehensive trade agreement with a western developed nation. This provides Canadian companies with a significant first mover advantage over other countries.
The Canadian Courier & Logistics Association (CCLA) is the trade association representing time sensitive delivery service companies of all types and sizes across Canada by providing professional, informed and proactive representation and information on common issues.
