Canada's Minister of Transport, Chuck Strahl, to Speak at 5th Annual Canada Maritime Conference
NEWARK, N.J., Sept. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- The Honorable Chuck Strahl, Canada's Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, will speak at the 5th Annual Journal of Commerce Canada Maritime Conference in Montreal on Tuesday, Sept. 14th. Minister Strahl will speak during the Day 1 luncheon of the Canada Maritime Conference, which will take place at the Queen Elizabeth Hotel in downtown Montreal.
Minister Strahl was appointed Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities on August 6, succeeding John Baird. Mr. Strahl was first elected to Parliament in 1993, and was re-elected in 1997, 2000, 2004, 2006 and 2008. In 2006, he was appointed Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food and Minister for the Canadian Wheat Board. In 2007, he was named Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development and Federal Interlocutor for Metis and Non-Status Indians.
Prior to entering politics, Mr. Strahl was a partner in a successful road construction and logging contracting firm, and held the responsibility of managing several operations throughout the Fraser Valley, where he has lived his entire life.
The 5th Annual Canada Maritime Conference, hosted by the Port of Montreal, brings together major stakeholders and key players in the Canadian shipping industry. The conference is taking place for the first time on Canada's East Coast, in Montreal, a major North American trade hub for more than 200 years.
