Canada Post mobile app hits one million downloads
Canadians accessing their postal services online and on the go more than ever
OTTAWA, July 2, 2013 /CNW/ - Canada Post's mobile app hit a major milestone over the weekend as it was downloaded for the one-millionth time. The increasingly popular app was launched in 2011 as part of Canada Post's strategy to enable Canadians to access postal services on the go. Parcel tracking, shipping rate look-ups, and epost - Canada Post's digital mailbox - are among the services Canadians can access through their smartphones. The app also offers Picture Postage, which allows users to create their own stamps, greeting cards and postcards. Available on all platforms, the app has consistently ranked among the top five free business apps in Canada.
"We know Canadians have changed how they communicate and how they use postal services. Our job is to make it convenient for them and evolve to meet their changing needs," says Kerry Munro, Group President, Digital Delivery Network at Canada Post.
In 2011, Canadians tapped into the Canada Post mobile app 7 million times. In the first six months of 2013, Canadians have already used it nearly twice as much. Tracking parcels remains the app's number one feature - more than 12 million packages have been tracked with a mobile device so far this year. More users are also managing their bills and statements through the app: since epost was added to it in December 2012, approximately 26,000 customers have been regularly accessing it every month.
New online site for businesses
While more Canadians are accessing their postal services online, more businesses are too. To improve access to Canada Post's wealth of business services, Canada Post has launched a redesigned web environment. The new business site simplifies the navigation process and uses an intelligent streamlining system that narrows the search for services. The changes enable companies to easily find the right solutions for their needs.
