Aimed at students in grades 9-12, the course is part of a catalog of high school electives developed by CampusNorth. Their online courses make it easier for schools to provide students with greater choice, without hiring additional teachers.
"We are excited to be working with The Royal Tyrrell Museum and Golden Hills School Division to produce this innovative course," said Matthew Birks, CEO at CampusNorth. "We believe this is the first curriculum development partnership of its kind and we are proud to be able to share the depth of knowledge and expertise at The Royal Tyrrell Museum with a wider audience."
CampusNorth provides curriculum to public, charter, and virtual schools throughout the United States. There is increasing demand for online electives as high school students call for more choice, and expect courses to work with mobile devices. States including Florida, Michigan, Alabama, and Virginia mandate that students take an online class in order to graduate. Other high school courses from CampusNorth include Renewable Energy, Marine Biology, and Medicine.
"Schools are under pressure to offer standards-aligned STEM curriculum but often don't have the resources to develop new online courses," said Matthew Birks. "Our high school electives provide schools with a quick and cost-effective way to enhance their curriculum without investing thousands of hours into curriculum development."
CampusNorth offers a free, 30-day demo for interested schools. Single student licenses start at $55 per course and can be purchased direct or from leading education software vendors.
