FRAMINGHAM, Mass. and WASHINGTON, April 30, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Campus Safety Magazine and presenting sponsor Northern Virginia Community College announce keynote speaker Senator Claire McCaskill and program sessions for the Campus Safety National Forum being held in our nation's capital on June 24-26 at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City in Washington, D.C. The Campus Safety National Forum is one of three events being offered by Campus Safety Magazine this year. All three will help hospital, school and university police and security agencies, administrators, and other stakeholders safeguard the lives and property on their campuses.
Senator Claire McCaskill will deliver the 11 a.m. Keynote on Thursday, June 25. The Missouri senator's address will cover sexual violence issues facing today's college and university campuses. Elected to the U.S. Senate in 2006, McCaskill (D-Mo.) is helping to lead our nation's effort to combat sexual assaults on college and university campuses. In 2014, she assembled a broad, bipartisan coalition of senators to introduce the landmark Campus Accountability and Safety Act. This legislation was drafted to boost accountability and transparency in higher education while better protecting and empowering students. In March 2015 the bill was assigned to committee for consideration.
This year's campus safety events have been expanded to include hospital protection programs, offering for the first time education and training for K-12, college and healthcare officials. These annual safety conferences have become requisite events for all stakeholders charged with protecting staff members, students, visitors and patients in our nation's educational and healthcare institutions.
The Campus Safety National Forum sessions held in our nation's capital this June will feature top industry speakers addressing the most important security issues facing North American campuses today.
