AUSTIN, Texas, March 25, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Campus Advantage's vice president for residence life and management services, Dan Oltersdorf, has been named as the National Apartment Association (NAA) Student Housing Chairman for 2013-2014. Oltersdorf will oversee NAA's Student Housing Committee and assist in planning its 2014 Student Housing Conference & Exposition in Las Vegas.

Oltersdorf has served on the committee since the student housing conference started six years ago. He also served as head of its education subcommittee for a few of those years. Last year, he took over as the committee's vice chairman before advancing into the chairmanship. His term started as this year's conference, which ran Feb. 25-27, came to a close.
"It has been exciting to see the NAA Student Housing conference grow over the past six years since it was conceived by a small task force and is now a well-established event," Oltersdorf said. "I am looking forward to the opportunity to help that growth continue -- both in terms of total reach as well as quality and depth of educational offerings to our industry."
Oltersdorf said he also looks forward to the opportunity to interact with an amazing network of colleagues -- both operators and suppliers -- who serve the student housing industry. Over the past six years, he said, the conference has developed into an invaluable opportunity for anyone in the student housing industry. He plans to work with the committee and the NAA staff to expand the approach, quality and scope of the educational opportunities offered to student housing operators by NAA.
"We will be doing more work than ever before assessing topics the industry wants to see covered and seeking out the best presenters and innovative approaches to deliver that content," he said. "As a whole, I am excited for the chance to build on what is already an amazing conference."
He also hopes to take the lead in implementing an industry-wide charity initiative similar to what Campus Advantage did in raising more than $50,000 across all of its properties in 2012 for the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life.
Oltersdorf has led Campus Advantage's Residence Life Program for 10 years. He is responsible for the development of Students First™, the company's innovative residence life program, and for the training and supervision of all residence life staff. He also is an internationally known leader in the field.
