Camp Corral Sponsors Children's Fun Day At National DAV Conference
Organization Previews Summer Camp for Children of Wounded, Disabled or Fallen Military Families on August 10th in Orlando
RALEIGH, N.C., Aug. 9, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Camp Corral joins forces with DAV (Disabled American Veterans) sponsoring the Camp Corral Children's Fun Day during the national conference on August 10th in Orlando. Camp Corral is a one-of-a-kind summer camp for military children with a wounded, disabled or fallen military parent.
For the first time in 92 years, DAV's national convention is offering activities for veterans' children. Camp Corral Children's Fun Day will be in the Championsgate Room of the Orlando Hilton Resort. Camp Corral will host a full day of "camp-style" activities including, games; costumes and skits; camp songs; dancing and juggling; arts, crafts and laughter.
"We are honored to participate in the DAV national conference introducing Camp Corral Children's Fun Day to veterans and their children," said Betsey Fortlouis, Executive Director for Camp Corral. "Camp Corral provides a fun learning experience, while giving military children a week to be kids in the great outdoors."
This summer, Camp Corral doubled the number of camp locations across the country, sending more than 2,000 children from military families to camp free of charge. Camp Corral has grown from one-camp in 2011 to 18 camps in 14 states for 2013.
Camp Corral is a week-long experience where kids, ages 8 to 15, are free to be kids, far away from the day-to-day challenges they face as children of wounded, disabled or fallen military service members. Camp Corral provides activities like canoeing, swimming, fishing, arts and crafts, ropes course challenge, archery, horseback riding and more.
"We are excited to have our partners from 4-H Camp Ocala Camp Corral leading the activities and fun for Camp Corral Children's Fun Day," said Fortlouis.
Camp Corral partners with 4-H and YMCA host camps throughout the country, carefully selecting each location to provide campers with a caring, nurturing environment. All camps are part of 4-H or YMCA's in their states – two trusted youth organizations, each with over 100 years of youth development experience. Camp Corral is a 501 (c) (3) tax-exempt, non-profit corporation that was piloted by founding partner Golden Corral. Golden Corral continues to generously support Camp Corral through fundraising activities within their stores. For information.videos.photos: www.campcorral.org
