Camp Bow Wow Launches Dog Bite Prevention Program
Nation's largest pet care franchise educates children on dog bite prevention
NEW YORK, Oct. 8, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Camp Bow Wow, the nation's largest pet care franchise and an Inc 5000 company, announces the launch of its Dog Bite Prevention Program, created to educate children and their families about preventing a dog bite incident. As there are more than 4.7 million dog bites each year and 50% occur among children under the age of 12, Camp Bow Wow's mission is to inform children and their families in a fun, interesting and creative manner about the ways to properly handle a dog.

Through this initiative, Camp Bow Wow's franchises across the country will travel to local schools, daycares, libraries and other community venues to conduct book readings of "Scout Says, 'Dog's Get Nervous, Too.'" A book written from a dog's perspective, this educational tool serves to teach children about the behaviors that may cause a dog to bite. Additionally, after each book reading, the children and their families will receive takeaways, including a copy of the book, a magnetic photo frame and bookmark. This program, activated at Camp Bow Wow franchises nationwide, is offered free to children ages 3-15.
To bring Camp Bow Wow's Dog Bite Prevention program to your community, simply contact your local franchise, who will happily visit your venue free of charge.
"We are very excited to launch Camp Bow Wow's Dog Bite Prevention Program," said Heidi Ganahl, CEO and founder of Camp Bow Wow. "As dog bites most frequently occur in children and can be avoided through knowledge of proper conduct with dogs, we believe this is an important program to bring to communities across the country."
