Camp Bow Wow® Announces Winner Of The "Bad to the Bone" Worst Behaved Dog Contest
Introducing Lucy of Greenville, SC, North America's Naughtiest Dog
NEW YORK, June 18, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Camp Bow Wow®, North America's largest and fastest growing pet care franchise, an INC 5000 company, is proud to announce the furry winner of its first-ever "Bad to the Bone" contest – Lucy, a husky mix from Greenville, SC. From February 1 through May 18, 2012, Camp Bow Wow embarked on a nationwide search for the worst behaved dog in North America and received hundreds of entries from pet parents seeking behavioral makeovers for their naughty pets. As the winners of the "Bad to the Bone" contest, Lucy and her pet parent, Eve Memmer, will now receive a full year of services from Camp Bow Wow and formal dog training from a Camp Bow Wow Behavior Buddies certified trainer.
Known as "The Destroyer" for her chewing habits, the 11-month old husky mix has tried a training class before but to no avail. "We're so excited to have won the 'Bad to the Bone' contest," said Eve Memmer. "Lucy is a close part of our family – we love her dearly. But she'll chew on anything in sight, she dashes out of doors and lunges at other dogs when she's on a leash. Lucy is in need of some serious dog training and Camp Bow Wow's services couldn't have come at a better time."
As the winner of the "Bad to the Bone" contest, this will be Lucy's very first time at Camp Bow Wow. The 60 lb dog will undergo several months of professional dog training, which will not only impact her behavior at home and in public, but her socialization skills amongst pets and humans as well. "We're eager to see Lucy's transformation from naughty pup to star pupil," said Heidi Ganahl, CEO and founder of Camp Bow Wow. "All dogs need a little direction when it comes to training and behavior and we anticipate that Lucy's lovable nature will outshine any mischievous conduct."
Camp Bow Wow's efforts to reform misbehaved dogs won't end with Lucy. Upon concluding the call for contest submissions on May 18th, Camp Bow Wow determined its 51 "Bad Dog" finalists from the pool of entrants and 50 have been entered into the next phase of the contest known as the "Face Off." These began on June 4th and will last through August 31, 2012, with two of each of the 50 finalists going head-to-head each week, allowing Facebook users to vote on the more menacing pup. The winner of each "Face Off" will receive a gift certificate for Camp Bow Wow or Home Buddies services.
