The Cambridge College Teaching Social Justice program recognizes that education is critical to creating a more just and compassionate world. Educators and social change agents who work in a variety of formal and informal contexts will benefit greatly from the expertise of Cambridge College faculty and their long-standing commitment to helping people teach and learn about social justice. In this program, diverse written and visual texts from around the world will be used to address the systemic structures that lead to domination and oppression. Students will then be introduced to alternative world views which will inspire them to teach and communicate in ways that will promote justice and compassion in their communities.
The National Institute for Teaching Excellence (NITE) Teaching Social Justice program was created for individuals who work in schools, community organizations, justice systems, religious organizations, nonprofits, advocacy groups, and health and social services who want to create a better world. Students will come to Boston for three weeks in July for intensive collaboration and learning. Additional work for each class will be completed through a distance learning framework and a second summer residency.
A representative from Cambridge College will be in Portland, Oregon for The Justice Conference 2012 from Friday, February 24th through Saturday, February 25th at the Oregon Convention Center. We invite you to stop by and learn more about us.
