Cambium Networks Joins Industrial Internet Consortium
Driving broader global Industrial Internet adoption and establishment of standards and interoperability
ROLLING MEADOWS, Ill., April 15, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Cambium Networks™, a global leading provider of wireless broadband solutions, today announced its membership in the Industrial Internet Consortium (IIC). Founded in March 2014, the IIC is currently composed of more than 150 small and large technology innovators, vertical market leaders, researchers, universities and governments. The company will be represented by Scott Imhoff, VP of product management, who will bring Cambium Networks' depth of experience in the industrial market to the Consortium in furthering its objective of accelerating the growth of the Industrial Internet.
"We're pleased to welcome Cambium Networks to the IIC," said Dr. Richard Soley, Executive Director, Industrial Internet Consortium. "Cambium Networks' expertise involves wirelessly connecting devices and systems – a key aspect for all Industrial Internet solutions. We look forward to including their experience in our membership's activities."
For over a decade and prior to the coining of the term Industrial Internet, Cambium Networks has served the communication needs of entities typically included under industrial communications, such as companies operating in the rail, oil and gas, port and airport, and utilities spaces. With today's ever-increasing demands for higher data rates, frequency of data collection and number of locations from which data is collected, adoption of a network capable of handling industrial-scale data requirements is nearly inevitable for any line of business.
"Cambium Networks' portfolio of point-to-point and point-to-multipoint wireless broadband network solutions allows industrial communication network operators to effectively and economically provide high capacity broadband where it's required – be it at a remote oil well pad, a stretch of rail line or level crossing, an electrical sub-station or the floor of an open pit mine. The broadband paths effectively allow efficient data collection, remote control and management, and employee access to business critical applications on a real-time basis," said Scott Imhoff, VP of product management, Cambium Networks.
"There's no question that the Industrial Internet's efficiency gains will force virtually all companies to adopt or be at a significant disadvantage to their peers. As more IT professionals are trained in managing industrial networks; capital budget cycles allow for additional network infrastructure investments; and application solutions impacting specific industries are developed to meet unique needs and deliver return on investment, more companies will be able to realize the safety, security and productivity benefits the Industrial Internet offers. We are pleased to join and collaborate with the IIC, and look forward to sharing our expertise with fellow members."
