Cambium Networks Appoints Martin de la Serna as VP of Sales EMEA
Seasoned sales executive brings diverse global and technological background to new position
ROLLING MEADOWS, Ill., Nov. 13, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Cambium Networks™, a global leading provider of wireless broadband solutions, today announced the appointment of Martin de la Serna to vice president of sales for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. To his new role, de la Serna brings over 20 years of experience in working for technology companies in the mobile wireless, software and data storage industries in Europe, Latin America and North America.
"I've spent over half my career in the wireless industry and am thrilled to return to it with such a dynamic company," said de la Serna. "Cambium Networks' varied product portfolio includes solutions to suit any connectivity or environmental challenge. I look forward to aiding in its mission of connecting the unconnected in the three key regions I am responsible for, which include countries with many of the world's lowest rates of Internet penetration."
De la Serna takes over the role from Ian Bayly, who will assume the position of vice president of global partner development. Bayly will be responsible for developing business with all global OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) as well as all multi-national system integrators (SIs). Bayly will establish contracts with new OEMs and ensure that SIs include Cambium Networks solutions in their installations.
"In my nearly 20 years in wireless technology, working at Cambium Networks has truly been the most rewarding," stated Bayly. "I am excited for my new role and to contribute to the company's continued growth and market proliferation. By the same token, I warmly welcome Martin aboard and know that his global expertise will prove tremendously valuable."
A specialist in building brands and gaining footholds in new markets, de la Serna was most recently vice president of sales and marketing for Helveta, Ltd, a software start-up that flourished under de la Serna's stewardship. In less than three years, he built and managed sales teams in Europe, the U.S. and Africa, driving the company from pre-revenue status to a market leading position.
Prior to Helveta, he spent 11 years in the wireless space with interWave Communications and Harris Corporation. He was managing director of EMEA at interWave, overseeing a tenfold growth in the region's wireless network business up to the company's acquisition by Alvarion, Ltd. De la Serna built Harris' microwave transmission operation and leading market share in the Mercosur countries, taking the lead in establishing the company's equipment manufacturing center in Sao Paulo and support facilities across Brazil. In his four years as vice president and managing director of Harris do Brasil, he grew revenue and operations from US$5 million in equipment-only sales to US$100 million in multi-divisional turnkey business transactions.
"I'm pleased that Ian will be filling a key position on the executive team and to add Martin," said Atul Bhatnagar, president and CEO, Cambium Networks. "His proven track record of sales across technologies and keen leadership acumen will be a great asset to Cambium Networks in our continued growth in the EMEA region."
