Cambium Networks Appoints Atul Bhatnagar As President And Chief Executive Officer
ROLLING MEADOWS, Ill., Feb. 22, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Cambium Networks™, a leading provider of IP wireless broadband access and transport solutions, today announced the appointment of Atul Bhatnagar, a distinguished executive with transformational experience at growing technology businesses, as the company's new president and chief executive officer (CEO). Bhatnagar will also join the company's board of directors.
Rob Amen, a managing director at Vector Capital and member of Cambium's board of directors said, "Atul is a seasoned technology executive with unparalleled strategic and operational leadership experience. We believe his industry expertise, operational acumen and relentless dedication to innovation will allow Cambium to accelerate growth and continue its long history of delivering the industry's most novel products to the wireless broadband market. We are excited to welcome Atul to Cambium and look forward to working with him."
Bhatnagar has extensive experience leading innovative high-growth global wireless businesses and has an exceptional track record of accelerating new product development. Bhatnagar spent more than four years as president and CEO of Ixia Communications (NASDAQ: XXIA). At Ixia, he was responsible for the development and execution of the company's wired and wireless convergence strategy, which further solidified Ixia's position as a world leader in converged IP services testing solutions. During his tenure at Ixia, Bhatnagar doubled revenues to $350 million and increased the market value of Ixia from $400 million to more than $1 billion.
Earlier in his career, Bhatnagar worked for Divitas Networks, Nortel, HP and Tektronix in a wide range of positions. Bhatnagar received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Birla Institute of Technology and Science and his Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from University of New Mexico.
"I'm excited to join Cambium Networks and humbled to be part of a legacy that has transformed the wireless communications industry," said Bhatnagar. "Cambium is uniquely positioned to take advantage of vast market opportunities and I look forward to working with this talented team to continue to build upon the company's momentum as a standalone entity."
Bhatnagar succeeds Phil Bolt, who facilitated the spin-out of Cambium Networks from Motorola Solutions. Bolt has been the company's president and chief executive officer since the creation of Cambium Networks in 2011 and spent nine years with the predecessors of Cambium Networks as vice-president of wireless networks solutions at Motorola Solutions and CEO of Orthogon Systems. During his tenure, Bolt oversaw the establishment of Cambium as a stand-alone entity, strengthened the company's point-to-point and point-to-multipoint wireless product portfolios and positioned the company to capitalize on opportunities in the industrial communications, public safety and global service provider markets. Bolt will continue to serve on Cambium's board of directors and will assist with the leadership transition.
Bolt commented, "With the divestiture from Motorola Solutions complete and the establishment of Cambium as truly a stand-alone entity, I feel that now is a good time for me to let go of my day-to-day responsibilities at the company. Atul is a highly qualified executive with the right industry expertise, leadership qualities and creative personality to further transform the company and accelerate its growth. I'm excited about the future of Cambium and I look forward to continuing to serve on the board of directors."
Amen said, "We want to thank Phil for his strong leadership as the CEO of Cambium Networks over the past two years. The complex spin-out from Motorola Solutions would simply not have been possible without Phil's hard work, leadership and dedication to the company. We look forward to continuing our relationship with Phil as a board member of Cambium Networks."
