"For more than a decade now, Read Across America has brought community leaders, parents, elected officials, celebrities and children together to read and celebrate books," Ward said. "I know that many NCAE members who teach in schools across the state are gathering adults and children together in communities to read next Tuesday, March 2, the 13th annual Read Across America Day."
The Cat-in-the Hat presented Ward with a copy of the Read Across America reading oath and a special limited edition copy of Dr. Seuss's Oh the Places You'll Go! for Ward to autograph.
The Carolina Hurricanes are hosting a special NCAE Night on March 27 to benefit NCAE's charitable organization the North Carolina Foundation for Public School Children. NCAE members receive a discounted ticket price and a portion of the ticket sale goes directly to the Foundation.
"The Hurricanes appreciate everything educators do in schools each day. We're proud to have a special night to offer NCAE members a great rate on our tickets, and I'm proud to meet the Cat-in-the-Hat, one of the most beloved figures in children's literature. I will certainly read with a child on March 2, and I encourage all adults to do the same with a special child in their life."

NCAE is the state's largest education association, representing nearly 60,000 active, retired and student members across the state.
