"Calxeda is pioneering the server market with low power ARM SOCs and extends this philosophy to the entire system creating the lowest power systems available," said Karl Freund, Calxeda vice president of marketing. "Using that same philosophy, our designers are using the XRP7724 for better power optimization and configurability on our already low power systems. Along with easy to use design tools that improve time to market, Exar's technology was the right choice for Calxeda."
As the server market shifts to low power CPUs in higher densities, Calxeda has been instrumental in defining the requirements of this new server market. PowerXR enables Calxeda to dynamically control their power system, achieving 1/20th the power consumption of other programmable solutions on the market today.
"We are excited that Calxeda, a leader in low power server design, has selected Exar's XRP7724," said James Lougheed, vice president, Power Management and AMS products at Exar. "The XRP7724 offers customers a smaller footprint solution compared to existing analog solutions, making it ideal for next generation servers. Our PowerArchitect™ development tool enables customers to rapidly design and test their system power solutions to get to market quickly. Calxeda has leveraged the advanced features of our technology allowing for improved optimization and unique upgradability," Lougheed concluded.
