Calvert Education to Host Nation's Largest Read Across America Event

BALTIMORE, Md., Feb. 17 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Calvert Education Services (CES) is mounting a national Read Across America event throughout the U.S. Read Across America is an annual reading and motivation awareness event that calls for every child in every community to celebrate reading on March 2, the birthday of Dr. Seuss. This is the twelfth anniversary of the event sponsored annually by the National Education Association. Last year nearly 45 million children and adults joined the celebration.

Tens of thousands of students, parents, and educators throughout the U.S. have signed on for Calvert's 50 State Reading Road Trip on March 2nd.  The Calvert Community includes Calvert Education Services, a non-profit educational organization, The Calvert Day School, U.S. Public School Districts, Virtual Charter schools, Brick and Mortar schools, International schools, South Carolina Calvert Academy and independent students in all 50 states. Calvert has developed a Ning Social Network (read.calvertschool.org) just for this event!  Participants will be able to upload videos and photos, interact with other Calvert families from around the world, share insights and knowledge (as well as what they are reading), watch live streaming video, and more!

• Participants will read a book about or by an author from their state (http://read.calvertschool.org/page/book-list) and share their stories on http://read.calvertschool.org
• LIVE Readings by CES staff 9-3 EST broadcasted through Ustream
• A Maryland Celebrities film montage of the Dr. Seuss classic, Mr. Brown Can Moo, Can You?
• Calvert Interactive students will read and share Power Point presentations from their Interactive Online Classrooms throughout the country.
