CalNaturale™ Wine Voted Best Cabernet Sauvignon by Consumers in Annual California Wine Competition
CalNaturale Cabernet Sauvignon Earns 'Best of Class' Recognition at the 2012 Consumer Wine Awards
LATHROP, Calif., April 4, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- CalNaturale™ wine, the first and only California wine made from certified organically-grown grapes and available in environmentally-friendly Tetra Pak packaging, today announced that its 2008 vintage Cabernet Sauvignon was named "Best of Class Cabernet Sauvignon" at the 2012 Consumer Wine Awards at Lodi, a unique and revolutionary evaluation of wines aimed to create a more sustainable and healthy wine industry. For the fifth year in a row, a panel of approximately 60 consumers, monitored by six wine experts, collaborated to evaluate more than 400 wines from many of California's largest and most popular wineries in a blind taste test. CalNaturale was also awarded the Lodi-Tokay Rotary Trophy--the only accolade of its kind--for "Best of Class Cabernet Sauvignon," presented by the members of the Lodi-Tokay Rotary Club.
"We are delighted that our Cabernet Sauvignon was named 'Best of Class' by the Consumer Wine Awards' panel," said Andy Hicks, director of wine sales and marketing for CalNaturale. "It's an honor to receive this kind of recognition from the people who we ultimately aim to please--everyday consumers. To have our Cabernet acknowledged as the best in quality and taste, something we pride ourselves on, is an amazing achievement."
Great tasting and made from premium-quality grapes, CalNaturale Cabernet Sauvignon is a voluptuous, full-bodied and approachable wine from the highly-acclaimed French Camp Vineyard in the Paso Robles Appellation. The wine delivers rich and intriguing flavors of berry fruits and the intense aromas of spicy black currants with a hint of French oak. It has already been awarded more than 35 medals of excellence, including six gold and 10 silver, at some of the most renowned national and international wine competitions.
"What's unique about this competition is that the winners represent the opinions of actual wine consumers, not 'experts' whose palates, experience and focus may not agree with the consumer at all," said Harvey Posert, spokesperson for the Consumer Wine Awards competition.
The Consumer Wine Awards at Lodi, sponsored by the Lodi-Tokay Rotary and the Diversity Wine Awards LLC, took place on March 17 and 18 at Hutchins Street Square in Lodi, Calif. Wines were judged on a 100-point scale and given awards and recommendations based on their score. Categories included sensory sensitivity, wine value and stylistic preferences. CalNaturale's Cabernet Sauvignon was awarded 95 points--the most points awarded to any entrant. CalNaturale will be receiving the "Best of Class" Award at an April ceremony to be held at Hutchins Street Square in Lodi, Calif.
Both CalNaturale Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay are available in two sizes, 500 ML and 1 liter cartons, and are offered at an outstanding value: $6.99 and $12.99, respectively.
