HIGH POINT, N.C., Feb. 6, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Calligaris has announced that two of its products BAHIA and LAZY were honored with 2016 Good Design Awards and are now part of the Permanent Design Collection of The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design. The annual award celebrates the world's most innovative industrial, product and graphic designs; and recognizes excellence in innovation, construction, function and utility. "I'm really honored to receive these awards, as confirmation – reinforced by experts as well - of our constant work in research and development in order to ensure to our customers high quality products," said Alessandro Calligaris, President and CEO of Calligaris Spa.
BAHIA is a collection designed by Dondoli e Pocci in conjunction with Calligaris. The Bahia collection boasts a range of brightly colorful chairs and stools characterized by the unique wraparound design of the backrest, reminiscent of two large, conjoined petals; described by designers Dondoli e Pocci as 'an inspired, organic shape'. The Bahia collection resonates in contemporary settings where design integrity and material matter most.
The LAZY armchair was also recognized with a 2016 Good Design Award. Designed by Michele Menescardi for Calligaris; Lazy is an armchair with sinuous lines and a wide, cozy seat, turning it into the perfect companion for your moments of relaxation. Thanks to its welcoming curves and its broad seat, Lazy is suitable for domestic or contract use. Lazy is available in fabric or leather upholstery; with your choice of base: wooden, metal or metal swivel.
