Calle Sjoenell Joins Ogilvy & Mather East as CCO
NEW YORK, March 8, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Cannes Lions award stand-out, Calle Sjoenell, is joining Ogilvy & Mather New York as Chief Creative Officer where he will report to North American Chief Creative Officer Steve Simpson. He is joining Ogilvy New York from BBH where he was Deputy Chief Creative Officer.
During his five years at BBH, Calle spearheaded some of the most exciting, non-traditional and award winning work for such brands as Google, AXE, NYC & Company, H&M, and LEE Europe. He has been a global creative force since 1994 when he launched his creative career in his native Sweden. After several entrepreneurial ventures he moved to the US in 2006 joining Fallon in Minneapolis as Group Creative Director with his brother Pelle who is now Executive Creative Director at BBH in LA.
"Calle is a modern talent," noted Steve Simpson, Chief Creative Officer for Ogilvy & Mather North America. "We at Ogilvy have tremendous respect for his work, not just because of its technical virtuosity, but because he builds powerful brand stories. Developing great brands over time is a hallmark of Ogilvy at its best, and Calle excels at the art. He is a brilliant addition to our creative leadership."
Among Calle's most noteworthy work is the multiple award winning campaign for band Oasis on behalf of Warner Brothers and New York City. It won the titanium in Cannes and several other gold awards. More recent work that has been featured is the Google Chrome campaign, "Dear Sophie" and "It Gets Better," among others.
In commenting on his move to Ogilvy, Calle said, "This was an opportunity that I could not let pass. The ability to work on the many of the worlds great brands on Ogilvy's roster together with creative legend Steve Simpson was just too tempting."
Ogilvy sought Calle out for this role recognizing his many creative achievements as well as his ability to help grow both brands and creative talent. At Ogilvy New York, Calle will work closely with Alfonso Marian, Chief Creative Officer for OgilvyOne who joined the agency this summer from Shackelton in Madrid.
