Call for Nominations 2016 Law Enforcement Congressional Badge of Bravery

WASHINGTON, Dec. 12, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The U.S. Department of Justice's Bureau of Justice Assistance is accepting nominations beginning Thursday, December 15 for the Federal Law Enforcement Congressional Badge of Bravery and the State and Local Law Enforcement Congressional Badge of Bravery. The nomination period closes February 15, 2017.
Every day, federal, state, local and tribal law enforcement officers engage in exceptional acts of bravery in the line of duty. To honor these acts, Congress passed the Law Enforcement Congressional Badge of Bravery Act of 2008 (Public Law 110-298) creating the two awards.
WHAT: The 2016 Federal Law Enforcement Congressional Badge of Bravery and the State and Local Law Enforcement Congressional Badge of Bravery.
NOMINATION PERIOD: Open 8:00 A.M. (ET) December 15, 2016 through 11:59 P.M. (ET) February 15, 2017. Nominations must be submitted through the online Congressional Badge of Bravery nominating system, available at www.bja.gov. NOTE: The application link will be live on December 15.
CRITERIA: Acts of bravery, as described by the Act, performed between January 1, 2016 to December 31, 2016 by federal, state, local and tribal law enforcement officers, nominated by the head of the agency.
