Call Center in Philippines Sends 3 Employees to NYC Marathon for a Cause
Three Filipino call center employees will be running in the TCS New York City Marathon to support a US rehabilitation program.
MAKATI CITY, Philippines, Nov. 3, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Philippine multilingual call center Open Access BPO is sending three of its employees to participate in the TCS New York City Marathon, the world's biggest race, on November 6.
The company will join the race as a major sponsor of Ryan's Run, a Silver Charity partner of the NYC Marathon. Ryan's Run is a Pennsylvania-based nonprofit group that works with the Allied Services Integrated Health System to develop rehabilitation technologies.
Open Access BPO CEO Benjamin Davidowitz donated $25,000 to Ryan's Run to support the organization and send its staff to the NYC Marathon.
According to Davidowitz, this cause is meaningful for him, as three generations of his family have benefited from Allied Services' programs. His brother Steve is also one of the founders of Ryan's Run.
Employees Alberto Agulto, Clint Ortiz, and Leo Peñas were chosen for the event because of their passion for running and tenure in the company. They have been preparing for the race by running in uphill tracks in low-temperature areas.
"It's gratifying to see that we're making dreams come true. Helping my employees get to the US grants them an opportunity of a lifetime, since they will be joining one of the greatest sporting events in the world," CEO Davidowitz said.
Recently, Open Access BPO donated chairs and computers to the Independent Living Learning Center's special education department. They also provided relief goods for survivors of Typhoon Haiyan, the most destructive typhoon to ever hit the Philippines. Additionally, the company conducts an annual blood drive to help fill the national blood bank.
