California Virtual Academies Students Go Back to School without Leaving Home
Enrollment Still Open for New Students
SIMI VALLEY, Calif., Aug. 16, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- While most California students will be grabbing their backpacks and heading to the bus or carpool, many California Virtual Academies (CAVA) students will be taking a few steps from the breakfast table to their computers to log in for their first day of school.
CAVA is a tuition-free, online public school available to students in K-12 in most counties across the state of California. Students go to school full-time, online, using 21st century tools and the engaging, award-winning K¹² curriculum. CAVA gives parents and families the choice to maximize their success with individualized learning. The school is celebrating its 10th year this academic year.
CAVA's California-credentialed teachers provide a child-centered learning experience, offering instruction and support, one-on-one guidance, and regular interaction with students and parents via an online classroom, email, phone and face-to-face meetings. Students have a vibrant school community with plenty of social interaction as well, working with peers and one-on-one with teachers and advisors in the virtual classroom, and gathering in-person for events like class outings, science fairs, and service projects.
CAVA's technology makes it possible to focus on each student's individual academic challenges and strengths helping children be better students and allowing parents to be involved in their children's education. Students enroll in CAVA for a wide variety of reasons. Some are advanced learners, motivated to increase their knowledge beyond the basic course offerings, while others are athletes or performers looking to balance a full schedule, as well as those who benefit from a different learning environment and a focused one-on-one learning experience.
As CAVA students head back to school this week, they'll be part of one of the fastest growing segments in education over the past decade. The International Association for K-12 Online Learning reports that over 4 million students are enrolled in online learning programs in the U.S. Online learning is projected to continue its rapid growth in California and across the country.
CAVA is still enrolling for the 2012-2013 school year and is hosting online and in-person events for students. Find out more at www.k12.com/cava.
