Local 2010 Leader Rabinowitz to Guide Division Representing 200,000 Workers

WASHINGTON, Jan. 18, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- International Brotherhood of Teamsters General President Jim Hoffa has appointed Jason Rabinowitz as director of the Teamsters Public Services Division.

Rabinowitz is Secretary-Treasurer of Teamsters Local 2010 in Oakland, Calif. He has led the charge building Local 2010 into a powerhouse for workers' rights in California. Local 2010 represents 14,000 members throughout the University of California and California State University systems.

Since becoming Secretary-Treasurer in 2014, Rabinowitz has increased Local 2010's membership from 29 percent to over 80 percent for the first time in the union's history.

Under his leadership, the local created an effective stewards program, conducted a powerful contract campaign culminating in successful strikes, won strong contracts and organized thousands of new members.

Prior to his role as Secretary-Treasurer, Rabinowitz served as a Teamster attorney for 16 years. He successfully won challenging cases, bringing justice to workers. For four years, Rabinowitz served as a Professor of Labor Law at UC Davis Law School.

Rabinowitz became Executive Director of Teamsters Local 2010 in 2013 and was elected Secretary-Treasurer in 2014. The members reelected him to the position in 2016. He will continue in his position as Secretary-Treasurer of Local 2010.
